Banif - SGPS, SA is regretfully announcing that the Chairman of its Board of Directors, Commendador Horácio da Silva Roque, passed away this morning, after a lengthy period in hospital.

Banif SGPS, SA, the holding company of the Banif Financial Group, achieved a consolidated net result of 54.1 million euros at the end of 2009. This represents a reduction of 8.7% compared with the profit earned in 2008.

Banif SGPS, SA, a holding of the Banif Financial Group achieved a consolidated net profit of 40.9 million euros in the 3rd Quarter of 2009. This represents a reduction of 18.3% compared with the profit obtained in the same period of 2008. It is to be noted that the scope of consolidation of Banif - SGPS, S.A. now includes, as from 30 September 2009, 100% of Tecnicrédito SGPS, S.A. (holding of the financial group that includes, among other entities, Banco Mais, S.A., specialist in the area of vehicle loans), consolidating all its assets and liabilities.

The consolidated net results of Banif – SGPS, SA, the holding company of Banif – Grupo Financeiro, came to 4.2 million euros in the 1st quarter of 2009. This result represents a decrease of 76.8% when compared with the profit earned in the 1st quarter of 2008, but it includes the negative impact of the impairment recorded in results in relation to the Group's stake in Finibanco – Holding SGPS, in the amount of 16.1 million euros.

Banif SGPS, SA, the holding company of the Banif Financial Group achieved a consolidated net profit of 59.2 million euros in 2008. This result represents a decrease of 41.4% on the profit obtained in 2007.

Banif - SGPS, SA, the holding company of the Banif Financial Group, achieved a consolidated net profit of 50.1 million euros in the period to the end of the third quarter of 2008. This result represents a decrease of 22.6% on the equivalent period of the previous year.

Banif SGPS, SA, the holding company of the Banif Financial Group, recorded consolidated net profits of 44.4 million euros in the first half of 2008. This figure represents a reduction of 5.9% compared with that recorded in the same period of 2007.

Notice is hereby given that the consolidated figures for the Financial Margin (including earnings from equity investments) and Profits on Financial Operations disclosed for business operations in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2007 (unaudited figures) were revised at the end of the year, due to accounting reclassifications.
